WHY MAKESAKE EXISTS

Every child deserves a book that’s truly theirs

There are thousands of children’s books in the world. Beautiful ones. Clever ones. Books with dragons and pirates and talking dogs. But almost none of them have your child in them.

Not your child’s name slotted into a template. Not a generic red-headed girl who vaguely resembles someone. Your child — with their actual hair, their actual eyes, the name of their actual best friend, the street they live on, the thing they’re obsessed with this week.

Makesake was built to fix that.

“We wanted to create something that felt like it was written for one child and one child only. Not almost. Not close enough. Exactly them.”

What makes a Makesake book different

Every Makesake book starts from nothing. The story is written fresh by AI — a proper story, with a beginning and a middle and an end, built around your child’s details. The illustrations are painted specifically for that story, with your child’s actual appearance on every page.

The name of their best friend appears in the book. Their town appears in the book. If they’ve got freckles, the illustrated version of them has freckles. If they wear glasses, the character wears glasses.

And if your child drew something — an animal, a creature, something entirely their own imagination — we paint that drawing into every illustration as their companion. It travels through the whole story with them.

Built for every child

From the beginning, we wanted Makesake to be genuinely inclusive. A child who uses a wheelchair should be the wheelchair-using hero of their own adventure. A child with Down syndrome should see themselves in the book, not a sanitised, able-bodied version of what a publisher thinks is easier to illustrate.

We built representation options directly into the builder. And we handle them with care — not as a checkbox, but as something that genuinely matters to the child holding the book.

The technology behind it

We use AI to write the stories and paint the illustrations. Not to cut costs or replace craft — but because it’s genuinely the only way to create a completely unique, fully illustrated book for a specific child in minutes rather than months.

The stories are generated by Claude, Anthropic’s AI — one of the most capable language models in the world for nuanced, warm, age-appropriate writing. The illustrations are generated by Gemini, Google’s image AI, trained to produce proper children’s book illustration quality.

Every illustration goes through an automatic quality review that checks it against the story text — wrong setting, wrong character appearance, anything that doesn’t match gets automatically repainted. We’re obsessive about the quality.
